Seeking Reconciliation
Fair Morfudd, [like] golden and noble Tegau,
the shining of a fierce sun on a whitewashed court,
pay for my praise poetry before you start stinting:
4   you are the poets' deceit.
In my round breast out of trust there grew
pain [because of] how fickle you are:
some who call you 'the maiden'
8   say, my slender darling,
that your love will not stay with me, lord of pain,
   ([girl] of beautiful appearance)
any longer than foam (seemly white girl)
12   after water (unbroken vivacity).
A small payment, the brightness of Dyfr in appearence-
twice as well would you listen
([there is] anger in me from hearing you mentioned)
16   to the man who would say in deceit
[and] in haste one word of slander
(radiant Tegau) than [you would listen] to ten [words] of praise.

   Not willingly would I accuse
20   you ([girl like] a shower of snow), truly,
(profitless regarding love, [girl] twice as fair as the colour of
		  stars)
   forehead to forehead, of fickleness.
Even if (were there a foolish nature [in me])
24   in drunkenness (darkness of deceit)
I'd said a word in jest,
   between madness and excitement,
   realize, by Cybi's life,
28   ([girl] twice as fair as the colour of a wave) that you should
		  not
(golden radiant gem, the partner of praise)
   refuse reconciliation to a jester.
Girl, know (under strong trees above)
32   [what will be in] my mind if you refuse me
(no word of slander was had from my head).
Not in that way did the Son raised by Mary behave
towards the blind man (undisputed refrain)
36   on earth, of the Jews,
who (it was a cruel tale)
wounded His breast with a spear by treachery.
A poet's lively treasure, also contemplate
40   how great was the mercy, my darling,
of the virginal maiden, beautiful and steadfast of faith,
the daughter of Anna, of great success,
   a fair gem, when
44   Jesus was derided, [one of] holy Joseph's family:
she did not (there was no foolish word)
bear malice or avenge a word.
There is no deadly sin (bitterness which ensnares the flesh)
48   greater [in] its worthless effect
than to live (great and cruel scorn)
in anger, [girl] of the same colour as pure Enid.
[Girl] twice as fair as the colour of the sun, [like] a good
		  moon now,
52   calm down, [you] noble girl.
   Don't (your religion is beautiful),
as a result of a few words, be churlish
(my darling) to your poet any more,
56   [who is] noble [but] may be exiled.
   My darling, accept an apology
and reparation where it may not be denied.
   Uphold passion in your prayer:
60   reconcile ([girl] the colour of fine snow) with me.
